When I first read about this story this morning I thought it could be an April Fools prank. However, more and more news sources are confirming it. the story first broke from the The BG News student press which made me think it could be a hoax. However the Royal Oak Music Theatre in Michigan (where the band were scheduled to play this past weekend) have commented on the story saying, “they cancelled the day of our show for this reason.”

Here is the excerpt from the original article:

“After playing its first show in Bowling Green at the Cla-Zel, Of Mice & Men’s lead singer was arrested and jailed early Saturday morning.

Austin Carlile, 25, of Huntington Beach, Calif., was arrested for felonious assault outside of 149 North at 2:50 a.m. along with the band’s drum technician, Lionel Robinson II, 27, of Escondid, Calif., according to police reports.

Police responded to a fight between two groups of people in the street and one person lying on the ground unconscious, leading to the arrest of Carlile and Robinson, said Sgt. Jason Stanley of the Bowling Green Police Division.

What constitutes as felonious assault instead of disorderly conduct is the amount of physical harm, Stanley said. The victim was transported to Wood County Hospital with fractured nasal bones, he said.

As of Sunday, there was no record of the victim being in the hospital, said Stephanie Rath, switchboard operator for Wood County Hospital.

Carlile and Robinson were lodged in the Wood County Justice Center with no bond and are scheduled for a video arraignment with the municipal court at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, according to Wood County Sheriff officials.

Of Mice & Men headlined at the Cla-Zel on Friday, after which it was going to play with A Day To Remember in Detroit on Saturday.

The band was unable to play the show as well as its Sunday show in Grand Rapids, Mich., according to the band’s Facebook.

The BG News was unable to reach the band’s agent for comment.”

Escape The Fate have released a video for their latest single, “Ungrateful.” It’s a dark video that details the cycle of violence and bullying, we liked it but let us know what you think.

The band’s upcoming album of the same name is due out on May 14 via Eleven Seven Music. Pre-orders are on sale now. The track is available for download on iTunes.

Aficionado have officially disbanded. The group most notably released 2011’s self-titled and 2012’s Empty single, both on No Sleep Records. Read an announcement from vocalist Nick Warchol:

“It saddens me deeply to announce that after almost 9 years of playing together, Aficionado has officially broken up.

Since I was a kid, all I ever wanted to do was live the “band life”…revolve everything around music, do nothing but create, record, and then get in a van, travel around and play shows with my friends. For the past couple of years that was my life and I’m really grateful for that experience.

Thanks so much to Chris Hansen of No Sleep Records for taking a chance on us. Thanks to Phil Battiato at the Agency Group for working his ass off and getting us on a bunch of awesome tours. Thanks to anyone who ever cared about what we were doing, all the bands we’ve played with, all the people who ever came out to see us, everyone who gave us a place to crash, or supported us in any way.

I’d especially like to thank all past members who gave their time and energy to this project. I’m honored that I had the chance to make music with you assholes.

Sometime within the next couple of months there will probably be a last show here in Albany. Some of us, myself included, are going to continue on with a new musical projects of some kind. Stay tuned for those.

Aficionado”

I caught them at a show at The Nile Theater in Mesa last year and really sad to hear this news! They had a really cool sound but there are 7 band members so one can imagine how difficult that could be.
