“Punk is musical freedom. It’s saying, doing and playing what you want. In Webster’s terms, ‘nirvana’ means freedom from pain, suffering and the external world, and that’s pretty close to my definition of Punk Rock.”

In honor of what would have been Kurt Cobain’s 46th Birthday, we put together a list of films about Kurt and¬†Nirvana¬†well worth watching. Kurt changed the industry and opened the door for a whole scene of music. Let us know what you think of these films!

220px-KurtandcourtneydvdKurt & Courtney is a 1998 documentary film by Nick Broomfieldinvestigating (UK) the circumstances surrounding the death of Kurt Cobain, and allegations of Courtney Love’s involvement in it. Personally, I found it to be a bit ‘conspiracy theorist’ for my taste but interesting. It’s currently available to stream on Netflix.

The drummer left a comment via his Twitter and Facebook page last night announcing he will not be attending the Soundwave Festival in Australia later this month. Blink-182 recently released a new EP, Dogs Eating Dogs and will be headlining the sold out shows across Australia.

Many remember back in In 2008, Travis was aboard a small passenger plane with his best friend DJ AM. Ultimately DJ AM and three other people aboard the plane died.Ever since the accident, Travis has been uneasy about flying and a cross Pacific flight to Australia is definitely out of the question.

We wish the band luck at Soundwave and even without their amazing drummer I am sure they will still rock the house.

The Ontario based Emo/Punk band just dropped their new album today and we came across this coupon on the bands facebook page we just had to share!

You can purchase a hard copy of the album through Best Buy for $7.99 which is actually less than a digital copy on itunes at $11.99 (deluxe edition). I posted the coupon below, you can also order it online.

So take a trip down memory lane and go by an actual CD and support punk bands in big box retailers.
